Julie Scott is Coordinator of Elementary Music for Richardson ISD in Texas.  From 2004-2006, she resided in Rochester, NY, where she served as Assistant Professor (Teaching) of Music Education at Eastman School of Music while completing the coursework for a Ph.D. in music education.  Prior to her work at Eastman, Ms. Scott was Lecturer in Music Education at Southern Methodist University, teaching undergraduate music education classes.  Julie continues to work as the administrator of summer music educators’ workshops, both at SMU and at UNT.   Additionally, Ms. Scott is a member of the National Board of Trustees of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA) and currently holds the office of Vice-President/President Elect.

Before teaching at the collegiate level, Ms. Scott taught elementary music in Mesquite ISD and in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for a total of 16 years. During those years, she was selected as VIP Teacher of the Year from her school in Carrollton; received an Honorary Life Membership in the Texas PTA; was the director of the children’s Orff instrument and recorder ensembles for the southwest premier of Libby Larson’s Song Dances to the Light at the National Conference of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA); and her students were selected to perform two times at the Texas Music Educators (TMEA) Convention as featured children's ensembles.

Ms. Scott has worked extensively with children’s choirs in school and church settings. She is currently in her fourth year as director of the Lewisville ISD 5th Grade Honor Choir, a district-wide auditioned group of 95 children. This choir was selected to perform, under her direction, as one of the two children’s choirs in the Elementary Choir Concert at the Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention in San Antonio in 2004.    Listen to Julie's choir sing Jay Broeker's arrangement of "Risseldy Rosseldy."  Also under her direction, The Holy Trinity School Choir and the Upper Elementary Choir from First United Methodist Church, Dallas, have been featured on recordings for Choristers Guild. As a result of her work in the church setting, Ms. Scott authored the Early Childhood Year 3 Stepping Stones children’s choir curriculum, which is published by Choristers Guild.

In addition to teaching children and college students, Ms. Scott teaches Orff Levels Training Courses and workshops to adult music educators. She has taught Orff courses at Southern Methodist University, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, George Mason University, the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, Trinity University in San Antonio, the University of North Texas, and Richardson ISD. An active clinician, Ms. Scott has presented numerous workshops to the Texas Music Educators Association, to Texas school districts, and to Orff chapters throughout the United States. She has presented sessions at many national conferences, including MENC: The National Association for Music Education, the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, and the Organization of American Kodály Educators. In the summer of 2003, Ms, Scott presented at the conference of the International Kodály Society, which was held in Ourimbah, Australia.  This summer she presented a poster session at the International Conference of the College Music Society in Bangkok, Thailand.
